Dewy’s Run marks fifth year of raising funds for firefighters, police officers in need

By Jennifer Zartman Romano

Marking the fifth consecutive year, friends of the late Cleveland Township firefighter Duane “Dewy” Lowe will come together to celebrate his life and make a bold statement about supporting the plight of firefighters and police officers — particularly in times of illness and loss.
Loe died in 2011, but this annual event began in his honor and continues in his memory, providing hope and funds for public servants at a dark point in their lives.
Dewy’s Run is planned for Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Cleveland Township Fire Department. The event is a benefit ride open to motorcycles, Jeeps and hot rods. A scenic, 80-mile group ride is planned.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the ride commences at 10 a.m., returning to the fire station located at 117 North State Street, South Whitley. In addition to the ride, there will be a drawing, giveaways and great prizes provided by sponsors including Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Komet Hockey, Carmike Cinemas, Bradley Gough Diamonds and more.
A $20 donation per vehicle is requested.
All proceeds from the event will support the Whitley County Police and Fire Fund for ill and injured firefighters and officers.
