Summer means sun, fun and sometimes, a drop in blood donations. That’s because school’s out, and some donors who regularly give through the academic year might wait until fall before donating blood again. “Just because school’s out doesn’t mean donating blood is out, too,” said Sharyn Whitman, CEO for the Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross. “With a little creative thinking, you might find there’s a lot of life to be had in donating blood through the American Red Cross. Some donors have special occasions they want to honor like someone’s birthday or an anniversary,” said Whitman. “Donating blood is one way to add extra meaning to a particular day or event.”
That is why on July 5th, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m, O’Daniel Motor Sales will be hosting their own blood drive at the O’Daniel store. Please come out and donate your time and blood in order to help save lives this summer! Whether it is to honor a birthday, anniversary, or lost loved one, or simply want to make a difference in someones life, please make the decision today!
Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in Indiana and Ohio), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.
